Ann Logie and William Rendall

Ann Logie was born about 1875, the fourth and youngest daughter of Archibald Logie and Agnes Mowat. She was in her father's house in Pierowall in the 1881 and 1891 censuses. Her occupation in 1891 was Scholar, although most 16-year-olds at that time were finished school and working.

Ann married William Rendall (a merchant seaman, from Saverton, Westray; born about 1877, son of James Rendall and Jessie Mowat) in January 1901, and in the census that year is shown in Pierowall next door to her father and stepmother.

Ann and William had one son, James Logie Rendall, who was born in Pierowall on 30th September 1901. He married Emma Brown, and was a crofter at Saverton, Westray. He died in 1976.

Ann died of tuberculosis, like her brother James and three of her sisters. Her death occurred on 14th October 1901, when her son was only two weeks old. William married again and had other children, and died in 1952. The inscription on their gravestone in Westray reads:
