James Rendall and Jessie Sandison

James Rendall (b. 9^th November 1836) was the fourth child of John Rendall and Margaret Lennie. He married Jessie Sandison (b. 13^th May 1836) from Coald, Westray on 8^th January 1857.

Jessie (b. 13^th May 1836) was the daughter of farm labourer William Sandison and May Reid.

James and Jessie had one son who was born at Coald late in the year that they married:

• John Rendall b. 4^th December 1857 who married Mary Lennie Scollay

It is not clear where the family were in 1861 but by 1871, Jessie was widowed and staying in Pierowall with her son who was then thirteen.

Jessie stayed in Pierowall for the rest of her life. Her occupation was varyingly described as embroider, dressmaker and house cleaner. She died there on 23^rd January 1902 at the age of sixty five.
