Isabella Logie and William Harcus

Isabella Hewison Logie was the daughter of Mary Tulloch and John Logie,. and was born in Westray on 22^nd August 1860. She was with her parents and sister at Backarass in the 1861 census, when she was 7 months old. In the 1871 census she was still at Backarass, with her father, step-mother and siblings. She was not found in Westray in the 1881 census.

Isabella married William Harcus of Voldigar, Westray, on 14^th December 1883. William was the son of Thomas Harcus and Ann Harcus, and was born in Westray about 1860.

William and Isabella are known to have had four daughters:

• Mary Jane Harcus, born 15^th September 1884.
• Ann Harcus, born 6^th July 1886. She died in 1971, and is buried in Westray.
• Isabella Harcus, born about 1887.
• Betsy Harcus, born 27^th August 1896.

In the 1891 census William and their children were at Voldigar, but Isabella was again not located. The following shows their household in the 1901 census:

William died in 1931, and Isabella in 1942. Their gravestone reads:
