"Erected by their parents in memory of James Stewart Allan who died from drowning 28th Oct 1887 ___ ____" James was from Holland and drowned with Peter Harcus, Doggerboat when transporting a cow to Eday. He was the son of James Allan and Ann Drummond. His father and brother, Robert Allan, were also in the boat.
