Barbara Gray and John Rendall

Barbara Gray (b. 18th April 1815), a daughter of Robert Gray and Christian Harcus, married John Rendall (c. 19th May 1816), the son of David Rendall and Catherine Davidson, on 17th November 1838.

They were at Cloudy at the time of the 1841 census with their first child. John's occupation was fisherman. They were to move to Banks prior to the 1851 census and stay there for the rest of their lives.

They had five children:

  • David Rendall b. 27th January 1842. He was a carpenter but later went to sea. He died in 1869 of sunstroke, having been ill for the previous couple of months. He was just 27 years old.

John farmed eight acres at Banks and died there on 4th July 1870. Barbara Gray continued there with their son, John Rendall, and died on 16th October 1897 at the age of eighty two.
