Jean Dunbar and Archibald Osborne

Jean is thought to be the daughter of Mary Tulloch and Thomas William Jones Dunbar. Her birth at Garrison Place, Falkirk on 29th August 1895 was registered as Jean Tulloch but she subsequently adopted the Dunbar surname.

She was with her mother and older brothers at Mansfield St, Partick, Glasgow at the time of the 1911 census.

She was staying in Anderson St, Partick and working as a chemist’s receptionist when she married engine fitter Archibald Osborne on 30th January 1917 in Partick, Glasgow. Archibald (b. 27 Apr 1897) was the son of John Osborne, also an engine fitter, and Mary Kenna.

They had three children:

• Archibald Arthur Tulloch Osborne (b. 1917; d. 1918)

• Jean Julia Dunbar Osborne (b. 1918; d. 1918)

• John Osborne (b. 16 Sep 1921, Fairfield St, Govan; d. 2009)

Jean died in Glasgow on 3rd February 1974, age 78, and Archibald on 2nd March 1977, age 79.
