George Rendall and Sarah Yorston

George Rendall (b. 1831) was the son of William Rendall and Francis Craigie. He married Sarah Yorston (b. about 1833) from Kirkwall on 15th November 1851. She was the daughter of William Yorston and Catherine Pottinger. A number of their descendants were to have Gray connections.

George and Sarah were to have a large family:

  • Mary Rendall b. 12th July 1852 who married John Byers from Eday
  • Balfour Rendall b. 30th January 1854 who married Mary Cormack from Eday
  • Sarah Ann Mackenzie Rendall b. 15th November 1857, d. 27th November 1857
  • George Rendall b. 2nd February 1859, d. 5th April 1861
  • George Rendall b. 16th July 1861 who married his first cousin, Barbara Rendall
  • William Rendall b. 23rd June 1863 who married Christina Thomson, the daughter of William Thomson and Louisa Rendall
  • John Rendall b. 24th April 1865
  • Sarah Ann Yorston Rendall b. 29th January 1867
  • Frances Craigie Rendall b. 7th October 1868
  • Robert Rendall b. 12th July 1871

George and Sarah farmed at West Swanson. Sarah died on 29th January 1904 and George Rendall on 21st March 1919.
