Margaret Gray and David Logie

Margaret Gray was the oldest daughter of William Gray and Ann Sandison, and was christened in Westray on 3rd March 1803. She married David Logie (a farmer, son of David Logie and Jean Munro, born in Westray about 1803) about 1826 - no record was found for the marriage. They are known to have had three sons:

  • David Logie, born 24 July 1837. He married Lydia Marwick.

Margaret and David were found at Upper Damaquoy, Westray, in all of the censuses from 1841 through 1871, and David died there on 9th June 1877. Margaret was still at Upper Damaquoy in the 1881 census, with her granddaughter Mary, Mary's husband James Drever, and their family. In 1891, she was recorded with her son George and his family in St. Andrews, Orkney. She died in Kirkwall on 3rd January 1895, at the age of 93 years.
