Mary married Robert Leslie (b. 6th May 1848) in Westray in July 1870. He was the son of Robert Leslie and Mary Thomson of Lesliebrae, Westray. They formed a household at Lesliebrae with their first child by the time of the 1871 census.

Mary and Robert had six children, all born in Westray:

  • Jean Leslie b. 17th September 1870 who married Sinclair Balfour Rendall (b. 20th February 1870) in February 1895 in Westray. Sinclair was the son of John Rendall and Isabella Seatter. They left Westray.
  • William Leslie b. 1st June 1874 who married Robina Sinclair Mowat (b. 18th January 1875). Robina was the daughter of Gavin Mowat and Jane Pottinger. There was one child born in Westray before they left the island: Robert Leslie on 18th August 1897 in Pierowall. Robina’s sister, Jane Mowat married Robert Drever, the brother of William’s mother.
  • James Stevenson Miller Leslie b. 8th October 1878 at Garthlinks, Westray
  • Catherine Robertson Leslie b. 27th August 1886 who married John Rendall

Robert Leslie died on 25th December 1886 at Storegarth, Westray where they lived at the time. He was thirty six.

Mary remarried in December 1892. Her second husband was James Foulis (b. 22nd August 1860). He was the son of Elizabeth Foulis. James died at Garthstore on 19th January 1915 at the age of fifty four.

Mary died at Braeside, Westray on 11th June 1924 at seventy three.
