Janet Gray was the third daughter of William Gray and Ann Sandison, and was baptised in Westray on 9th August 1808. She married William Tulloch (c. 8 Dec 1805) on Christmas Day, 1828.
An obituary of a son in an Adelaide newspaper in 1928 states that his father William Tulloch was "master of a vessel plying his home town and Leith".
The following children are known to have been born to Janet and William:

James Tulloch, born 7 Sept 1829, died 5 Jan. 1833, aged 2 (?) years
- William Tulloch, c. 23 Dec 1831 who emigrated to Australia and married Esther Armstrong
- Ann Tulloch, born 15 May 1835. She married George Seater.
- Barbara Tulloch, born 7 Feb 1839, died 16th March 1841, age 3 (?) years
- Mary Tulloch,born 18 Apr 1842 who married George Rendall and emigrated with their family to Australia.
- David Tulloch,born 20 June 1845 who emigrated to Australia and married Jessie McDill
- Thomas Tulloch, born 15Aug 1847 who emigrated to Australia and married Sarah Tyzack.
- Jemima Tulloch, born 15 March 1851. She married John Seatter, and later William Leslie.
The family was recorded at Pow, Westray, in the censuses from 1841 to 1861. The following shows the household in the 1851 census.

William was at Pow in the 1871 census.
With a number of his family having emigrated to Australia, William also went out, arriving in Port Adelaide in November 1872 on the St. Vincent. He died on 28 Sep 1894 at "Waverley", Woodville, Adelaide. He was 88.
